| so i'm in japan now, and i must say, it's a great experience so far. it's nice meeting people, it's like the first day of school all over again, except that there are only like 30 choices of people to befriend so you're that much more enticing as a friend option! everything here is small and compact, including the hotel room i'm staying at, pictures will be posted up later! i dont think i've gotten too much of a culture shock since i'm asian and have been to asian cities, but nonetheless, it's still quite different from what i'm used to i suppose. i haven't met my host family yet, that comes on saturday, wish me luck! i hope they don't hate me! anyhow, my battery is running low, send me email please, since i doubt i'll get much internet access where i'll find you guys online due to timezones and all! hope you're all having fun at your respective colleges or study abroad locations, and i'll try to keep you guys updated, although i'm sure most of you will lose interest in my travels and adventures maybe by the third entry or so. :p oh, and pictures will probably be posted on imagestation when i get around to doing that.

| so i'm supposed to get on the plane back to hawaii in a few days, and of course, now i cannot take ANYTHING on the plane with me. not even a book to waste time away. what the hell am i supposed to do on the plane for 2 hours? and what am i supposed to do during the 4 hours layover followed by 10+ more hours of flying? oh no. :(
pat: i don't think they'll let me take wai ta lai back to hawaii, besides, you'll be in LA by the time i get back. they won't let mooncakes pass through either cuz of the eggyolk center. sad :\
| it's hot. muggy. humid. and overall quite unpleasant weather. but luckily shopping malls are wel air conditioned! :) i'm alive and well, how's your side of the world? | | |
| i'll be back in hawaii sometime in the middle of august, send me email! cgoo@usc.edu

| hmm so i finally got around to reading the last book in the bean series (shadow of the giant). and while i could stop and reflect on the book or the series, i'm usually not very good at expressing stuff like that. but what's bothering me is that i read the ender series a long time ago, and i didn't really pay much attention to the middle two books of the ender series b/c they kind of bored me to be honest. however, if i do recall correctly (most likely not b/c it doesn't make sense), in the end of children of the mind, doesn't petra become ender's speaker for the dead?(or was that someone else) also, there was a part in one of the books where it mentions a girl (petra? novinha?), married to some boating guy somewhere in europe? that's what's bothering me, i seem to remember things that may or may not have happened and its not making sense to me at all b/c petra would never have been around when ender was, she ended up growing old w/ peter. and they wouldn't have had instanteous space travel yet, right? b/c ender was far ahead of all of them b/c he was in space for so long, not growing old as fast as everyone else on earth was... so it can't be possible for petra and ender to meet again... right? and even if they met, for petra to outlive ender?
can anyone clear up these questions? i don't really want to go back and re-read the whole ender series, but i can't seem to find the answers on google.
*edit*
so ok, if valentine was the girl w/ the boating guy, does that mean she came back from space to earth to marry, then went back to space to join ender? cuz at the end of shadow of giant, valentine and ender were travelling through space together. but that still doesn't solve the whole petra thing.
